PAC to discuss governance issues with HIQA

18 Oct 2017, 09:43

The Public Accounts Committee will focus on governance and management of conflict of interest issues at the Health Information and Quality when it meets tomorrow morning, Thursday, 19 October 2017.

Committee Chairman Seán Fleming said: “Last month, executives from HIQA appeared before the Committee where we discussed organisational governance and management of conflicts of interest. The Committee was quite satisfied with the responses it received. However, a newspaper article which appeared since then has raised the concerns of the Committee in relation to conflicts of interest. The Committee wishes to examine further matters relating to the reported attendance of HIQA Chairman, Mr Brian Mc Enery, with members of Nursing Homes Ireland in October 2015. The purpose of today’s session is to clarify the extent, if any, to which there was a real or perceived conflict of interest on that occasion and whether HIQA's governance standard is appropriate or sufficient to manage any conflicts of interest"

This PAC meeting will start in Committee room 3 at 9am on Thursday, 12 October 2017.
