Good Friday Committee to resume discussion of legacy issues

The meeting will see the Committee resume its engagement with groups dealing with legacy issues from the Troubles both sides of the border.

The following witnesses will attend:

•    Mr. Kenny Donaldson,  Mr. Ken Funston, Ms. Karen McAnerney, Ms. Shelly Gilfillan, Innocent Victims United;
•    Mr. Austin Stack, Mr. David Kelly, Independent Victims and Survivors Coalition;
•    Mr. Pat Hynes, Ms. Barbara Walshe, Glencree Centre for Peace and Reconciliation.

Speaking ahead of the meeting, Committee Chair Sean Crowe said, “This is the third in a series of meetings the Committee is holding on legacy issues. We are hearing from a range of groups from across different communities, north and south, which represent the victims, survivors and family members of those who lost their lives or were injured during the Troubles.  Supporting victims and survivors, and dealing with legacy issues, is a crucial part of the Good Friday Agreement, as well as the Stormont House Agreement. The Committee is anxious to ensure that victims’ voices are heard and that concrete progress is made in addressing legacy issues.”
