IFA President to appear before EU Affairs Committee

14 Nov 2017, 16:20

The Joint Committee on European Union Affairs will meet with Mr Joe Healy, President of the IFA, tomorrow to discuss the future of Europe.

The meeting will start at 3pm in Committee Room 1, Leinster House.

Committee Chair, Michael Healy-Rae TD, commented, “Our engagement with the IFA President tomorrow will focus on a number of key areas relating to agriculture and the EU. Reform of the CAP and Brexit will be high on the agenda, as well as environmental sustainability. In light of the Citizens Assembly’s recent recommendations on farming and climate change, members will be interested to hear the IFA’s perspective on how to balance environmental protection and economic competitiveness. Mr Healy will brief us on his organisations views on the Future of Europe and how best to protect Irish agriculture while working closely with our European neighbours.”
