Foreign Affairs Committee to conclude its review of Irish Aid Programme with briefing from Minister of State

The Joint Committee on Foreign Affairs, Trade and Defence will meet tomorrow at 9am in Committee Room 1.

The agenda for the meeting is as follows:

Session A - 9 a.m. The current situation in Palestine [Representatives from Sadaka]

Session B - 11 a.m.  Review of the Irish aid Programme (resumed) [Minister of State with special responsibility for the Diaspora and International Development]

Committee Chair, Brendan Smith TD, said, “In the first part of our meeting tomorrow, we will be addressed by Sadaka, which advocates for the national, democratic and human rights of the Palestinian people. Its representatives will brief us on their work advocating for a resolution to the Middle East Peace Process and an end to the ongoing settlement building programme by Israel.”

“During the second session of the meeting, Ciaran Cannon, Minister of State at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade with special responsibility for the Diaspora and International Development, will round up our series of meetings reviewing the Irish Aid Programme. We look forward to hearing his initial assessment of our meetings and the department’s plans in this area.
