Agriculture Committee to discuss Coillte’s Annual Report and Climate Change

11 Dec 2017, 14:36

The Joint Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine meets tomorrow at 4pm in Committee Room 1, Leinster House.

The CEO of Coillte and other representatives from the organisation will be before the Committee.

Committee Chair, Pat Deering TD said today, “Coillte are the custodians of 7% of Ireland’s land and are responsible for improving the commercial return from forestry investments. The Committee will tomorrow hear from Coillte on the findings of their 2016 Annual Report and also about their current activity. The work of Coillte cannot be underestimated and so we look forward to tomorrow’s meeting which will allow us, as a Committee, to hear how they performed in 2016 and also outline their plans for future growth. We will also engage with them on their initiatives for managing our forests on a fully sustainable basis and promoting the use of wood and wood products as an alternative to fossil fuels and non-renewable construction materials.”
