Joint Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform and Taoiseach to discuss Report 42 of Review Body on Higher Remuneration in the Public Service and general Revenue matters

The Joint Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform and Taoiseach will meet tomorrow, Wednesday, 14 December, for separate engagements with a group of retired public servants, followed by representatives of the Revenue Commissioners.

The meeting at 1.30pm in Committee Room 3 of Leinster House will be split into two sessions:

  • 1.30pm-2.30pm – Engagement regarding Report 42 of the Review Body on Higher Remuneration in the Public Service with retired public servants, Mr John O’Brien, Mr Tim Kenneally, Ms Maureen Cronin and Ms Paula Lawler;
  • 2.30pm-4.30pm – Engagement with Officials from the Revenue Commissioners on General Revenue Issues.

Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy John McGuinness said: “A number of retired public servants recently wrote to the Committee regarding Review Body Report 42 and pay awards and higher remuneration in the public sector and Members agreed to engage with the group in public session to hear the concerns they have identified.

“In our second session, we will meet with the Chairman of the Office of the Revenue Commissioners and officials to discuss general revenue matters, including revenue collection from the gambling industry, Corporation Tax and the Report of the Commission on Taxation and Welfare.”

The Joint Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform and Taoiseach has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.
