Joint Committee on Public Petitions and the Ombudsmen to discuss range of petitions

The Joint Committee on Public Petitions and the Ombudsmen, chaired by Deputy Martin Browne, will meet tomorrow, Thursday, 8 February, at 1.30pm in Committee Room 4 of Leinster House to discuss the following petitions from members of the public:

  • Public Petition Number P00033/21: Call for a Citizens Assembly on the Irish Justice system; Policing, Crime and Rehabilitation (resumed);
  • Public Petition Number 35/22: Amend Child Care Act 1991 to provide HIQA with the necessary powers to sanction Tusla, Child and Family Agency when it fails to meet its statutory obligations (resumed);
  • Public Petition Number P00036/22: Reopen Ennis, Nenagh and St John’s Emergency Departments (resumed);
  • Public Petition Number P00009/23: Reform Irish Mental Health Services (resumed);
  • Public Petition Number 24/23: Electric Scooter Safety, Standards and Requirements (resumed);
  • Public Petition Number P00047/23: Cost of Generic Pain Relief Medications.

The Joint Committee on Public Petitions and the Ombudsmen is a standing Committee of the Houses of the Oireachtas and has 11 Members, seven from the Dáil and four from the Seanad.
