Enterprise Committee to meet for engagement with Chairperson Designate of IDA Ireland

20 Feb 2024, 13:12

The Joint Committee on Enterprise, Trade and Employment will meet on Wednesday February 21st for engagement with Chairperson Designate of IDA Ireland Fergal O’Rourke.

The meeting will take place in Committee Room 1 of Leinster House between 9:30-12:30.

Speaking ahead of the meeting, Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Maurice Quinlivan said: “We welcome the opportunity to hear from the Mr O’Rourke as the new Chair of IDA Ireland. 2024 marks the 75th anniversary of IDA Ireland reflecting Ireland’s longstanding track record of positioning Foreign Direct Investment.

IDA clients directly account for 11% of total employment nationally and make a deep economic contribution that ranges from an annual spend of €35.8bn on payroll and Irish sourced goods and services, to €15.5bn on capital expenditure and over €7bn on in-house RD&I.”

“We look forward to discussing the opportunities and challenges for IDA Ireland amid significant geopolitical uncertainty with the resultant impact on the business environment; a more muted pace of growth in the global economy; the challenge of climate change and the AI revolution that is taking place.”
