Vol. 561 No. 1

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

273 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Education and Science, further to Parliamentary Question No. 258 of 4 February 2003, if he will address the specific question raised. [3487/03]

I can confirm to the Deputy that my Department made a commitment to allow a project at the school referred to by the Deputy to progress to tender documentation stage subject to certain conditions.

The budgetary allocation for 2004 and subsequent years will determine how quickly projects can progress to tender and construction including the project at the school referred to by the Deputy.

John Deasy

Question:

274 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Education and Science when he expects to be in a position to allow the proposed new resource learning support room for a school (details supplied) proceed in view of the fact that all relevant documentation is in place and the project has gone to tender; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3492/03]

The 2003 school building programme has now been published and full details in relation to individual projects are available on my Department's website at www.education.ie.

On the basis of the budgetary allocation it was not possible to include any further projects in 2003. The budgetary allocation for 2004 and subsequent years will determine the rate of progress on projects that could not be included in this year's programme.
