Written answers

The Air Navigation (Carriage of Munitions of War, Weapons and Dangerous Goods) Orders 1973 and 1989 define ‘munitions of war’ as weapons and ammunition designed for use in warfare and includes parts of or for such weapons and ammunition.

In relation to exemptions granted under these Orders, these are not collated according to any sub-category, as such the information requested by the Deputy is not readily available.

Officials in my Department will review records to establish the additional details that the Deputy has requested in relation to exemptions granted in the years referenced, including the number of exemptions which related to the carriage of dangerous goods and these will be forwarded directly to the Deputy.

Please advise my private office if you do not receive a reply within 10 working days.
