Irish Language Committee to discuss roles of Muintearas Teo and Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne

The Committee on the Irish Language, the Gaeltacht and the Islands will hear from Seán Ó Coistealbha, Andreas Vogel, Máirín Nic Fhionghuin of Muintearas Teo and Máire Ní Scannláinn from Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne tomorrow, Tuesday, 15 November 2016.

The Committee will be considering the role and tasks of Muintearas Teo and Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne.

Muintearas Teo works in promoting the Irish language, especially among young people and through the support it provides to Gaeltacht families in Donegal, Mayo, Galway and Meath raising their children through Irish.

Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne is a subsidiary company of Comharchumann Forbartha Chorca Dhuibhne, a local development co-operative founded over 40 years ago to improve the economic, social, community and cultural life of the Irish language speaking areas of the Dingle Peninsula of County Kerry or Corca Dhuibhne.  Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne, based in Baile an Fheirtéaraigh (Ballyferriter, Co. Kerry is in existence since 1980 and through its various activities, publications and projects, including a regional museum, helps celebrate, promote and maintain the very rich linguistic, archaeological and cultural heritage of Corca Dhuibhne.

This meeting will take place in Committee Room 4, Leinster House from 5pm, on Tuesday, 15 November 2016.
