Vol. 38 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Overflow of the Fare River.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether representations on behalf of the tenants affected have been made to the Land Commission about the great damage caused by the overflow of the Fare River (a tributary of the Suck); and whether the Minister is aware that hundreds of acres of fertile land are submerged annually for four or even five months between Loughbower and Poolboy; and whether it is intended to reclaim this land by deepening the Fare River.

Representations have been received in connection with the Fare River, but the matter does not appear to be one in which the Land Commission can take action. There is a Drainage Board already operating in this area.
