Vol. 63 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Unemployment Benefit Refusal.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state why unemployment benefit has been refused in the case of Mr. Marcus Haugh, Paradise, Ballynacally, County Clare (Local Office—Ennis; Serial No. 10983).

A claim to unemployment benefit made on 9th March, 1936, by Mr. Marcus Haugh, of Paradise, Ballynacally, County Clare, was disallowed on the ground that applicant was not unemployed. Mr. Haugh appealed to the court of referees against that decision and the court, after careful consideration of all the evidence, recommended that the claim be disallowed. The insurance officer accepted the recommendation, and as the court did not give the applicant leave to appeal to the Umpire he has no further right of appeal and the claim, therefore, remains disallowed.
