Vol. 67 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Reorganisation of Fishing Industry.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if a scheme for the reorganisation of the sea fishing industry, which would involve a heavy financial commitment by the Government, has been submitted to him by certain Dublin firms; and, if so, if he will give ample opportunity for open inquiry into such a scheme with a view to protecting the interests of (1) our inshore fishermen, (2) our present suppliers and retailers in the smaller centres, and (3) our small coastal exporters of fresh fish.

Dr. Ryan

Certain proposals for the reorganisation of the sea-fishing industry have been received by my Department and are being examined. The interests of all classes concerned will be fully borne in mind during the consideration of these proposals.
