Vol. 77 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Laoighis Medical Officers.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state the minimum and maximum salaries presently paid to dispensary medical officers employed by the Laoighis County Board of Health; the number of years taken to reach the present maximum figure; the last date upon which the maximum salary was increased, and the amount of same.

As regards the first part of the question, the amounts are £250 and £350 respectively. In two districts the medical officers hold similar positions in adjoining counties. In one of these the salary is £56 a year and in the other £87 10s. As regards the latter part of the question it would take approximately 13 years to reach the maximum salary. The general scale in force was fixed in the year 1930. The maximum of the scale is £350.

What was the last increase in the maximum salary fixed?

The maximum was £300 under the old scale and in 1936 it became £350.
