Vol. 119 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Employment at Drying Kilns.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state (a) the number of men employed at the drying kilns at Dundrum; (b) whether any special skills are needed on the part of the employees there, and (c) the weekly wage paid to men employed at the kilns.

From two to six ordinary mill helpers are employed as required to build up loads of timber for kiln drying at Dundrum. The work requires no special skill.

It is much the same as stacking timber in the ordinary way for air drying. The men are paid at a basic rate of 58/4 per week.
