Vol. 123 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Establishment of Wood-Pulping Mills.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will take steps to have examined jointly by the Industrial Development Authority, the Forestry Division and his Department the possibility of setting up wood-pulping mills and to plan for the development of secondary industries capable of utilising the thinnings arising from the State forests now in existence and in process of planting.

The possibility of having a wood-pulping industry established is one of the matters already scheduled by the Industrial Development Authority for examination; any Government Departments concerned will, of course, be consulted. Attention is also being given to the development of industries capable of utilising forest thinnings.
