Vol. 127 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Civil Service Arbitration Scheme.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he is aware of the grave dissatisfaction among civil servants in general and particularly among Post Office workers over the prolonged suspension of the Civil Service arbitration scheme; whether it is proposed to restore the arbitration scheme; and, if so, when.

Suggested amendments to the scheme of conciliation and arbitration for civil servants have been received from the staff associations and are under consideration. A list of the official amendments has just been issued to the staff associations. When the associations have had an opportunity of considering the official amendments, arrangements will be made for discussion of the various amendments by my representatives and representatives of the staff associations. The resumption of the conciliation and arbitration scheme will necessarily depend on agreement being reached in discussion.
