Vol. 153 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Radio-Activity Detection.

asked the Minister for Defence whether any facilities exist in this country for the detection of radioactivity.

I presume the Deputy has in mind facilities for detecting radioactivity in the atmosphere or in rain. There are, at present, no organised State facilities for this purpose. My Department has been in consultation with the Meteorological Service in the matter from the civil defence aspect. I understand that the Meteorological Service have already arranged to make certain tests.

The Deputy must be radioactive.
