Vol. 164 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Legislation on Tinkers' Camps.

asked the Minister for Justice if legislation is contemplated in connection with the problem of the camping of tinkers on open lots in county boroughs and urban areas.

I see no prospect of being in a position in the near future to introduce legislation to deal with this problem. As I mentioned in reply to a somewhat similar question on 1st May last, my Department and the other Departments concerned have been studying the matter, but so far no practical solution has been found.

May I add that if any Deputy — or anybody else — thinks he has a workable scheme for the control of tinkers, I shall be very glad to give it the most careful consideration if he sends me details of it?
