Vol. 164 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of Galway Estate.

asked the Minister for Lands whether the Blake estate, Rathville, Kiltulla, Athenry, County Galway, Record No. U29160, has been under consideration for acquisition by the Land Commission, and, if so, if he will state when and by whom it was offered for acquisition, and further, if it has been decided to acquire the estate, whether it will be divided among local congests so that it may be fully utilised for agricultural purposes.

There are no proceedings for the acquisition of this estate and no such proceedings are contemplated at present.

Was any offer made by the owner or the owner's solicitor to the Land Commission to sell this estate?

That is a private matter between the Land Commission and the person concerned. The circumstances in regard to this estate have changed, I think, in the past few months. The information I gave was in reply to the Deputy's question.
