Vol. 201 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Blind Pensions Applications.

38.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he is aware of the hardship caused by the inordinate delay in dealing with blind pensions applications in Dublin at present; what is the reason for the delay; how many applications are currently outstanding; and what action he proposes to take to expedite consideration of applications.

There are no outstanding blind pension applications in Dublin at present. The unavoidable delay in some cases recently arose from the retirement of an ophthalmic inspector.
