asked the Minister for Finance whether in connection with his assurances to the Dáil on a number of occasions that an index to the statutory rules, orders and regulations was in the course of preparation and almost ready for publication he will state the reason for the delay in publication of the index.

asked the Minister for Finance the date of publication of the last index to the statutory rules, orders and regulations, and the number of statutory rules, orders and regulations passed since the publication of such index; and if he will indicate to the House when in fact the next index will be published.

asked the Minister for Finance when the consolidated index to the statutory instruments for the period 1948 to 1960 will be published.
I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to take Questions Nos. 6, 7 and 8 together.
The last index to the Statutory Rules, Orders and Regulations for the years 1946 and 1947 was published on 25th February, 1954. The number of such Rules, Orders and Regulations made from 1948 to date is 5,043. The index for the years 1948 to 1960 will be published early next month. Publication is later than was anticipated because of some unforeseen difficulties that arose in the closing stages of production of the index.
