Vol. 260 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tramore Resort Development.

29.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power the amount of moneys provided in the current budget for the financing of the Tramore resort development plan; and if he will state the specific projects to be undertaken in the current year.

The allocation of funds voted for the major resort development scheme is a matter for Bord Fáilte.

I am informed by the board that in the current financial year £12,500 has been included in their budget for expenditure at Tramore on current major resort development works, which comprise an outdoor amusement park, a boating lake and a pitch and putt course. The greater part of the board's expenditure on these works occurred in the financial year just ended.

Can the Minister say how this amount of money compares with the amount recommended in the report on the development of the resort?

Much more needs to be done to implement the resort development plan but that will take some years. To date, Bord Fáilte have spent £353,100 on resort development at Tramore.

Can the Minister indicate when the plan will be completed?

We shall have to bring further legislation before the House before increasing the grants available for resort development.

Can the Minister indicate for how long the development plan is likely to be held up?

The resort development will be staged over a number of years. There are many other resorts competing with Tramore for development.
