Vol. 262 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin House Fire.

63.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether a fire at a Dublin Corporation dwelling (details supplied) in Dublin was due to defective electrical wiring; and what steps he is taking to ensure that wiring of local authority dwellings is up to standard.

The information requested in the first part of the Deputy's question is not available in my Department.

In regard to the electrical wiring of local authority housing, an electrical specification prepared by the ESB was circulated by my Department to all housing authorities on the 14th February, 1969, with the advice that this specification, or an equivalent, should form part of the contract documents prepared for future schemes.

Responsibility for ensuring that work is carried out in accordance with the terms of the contract is a matter for each housing authority.
