Vol. 268 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Swimming Pool.

26.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will encourage by way of State assistance the construction of a swimming pool, comparable in size with international pools, at Williams Park, Rathmines, Dublin; or if he will give such assistance for another site and, if so, where.

The provision of public pools, or of financial assistance towards the cost of pools provided by local voluntary organisations is a matter for the local authority concerned to decide on in the first instance. My Department is concerned where it is proposed to raise capital for the purpose and in the provision of State subsidy towards loan charges on approved projects.

I understand that Dublin Corporation intend to provide a pool at Williams Park but I have no proposals in the matter.
