Vol. 268 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Bread Legislation Harmonisation.

49.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries the implications of the draft directive of the Commission of the EEC regarding the harmonisation of legislation on bread.

The proposed Council directive on the harmonisation of legislation of EEC member states concerning bread would enable the free movement throughout the Community of bread conforming to specified standards. The proposed directive would not place any restriction on the manufacture of bread in any member state for sale on its home market.

I should like to ask the Parliamentary Secretary how this affects the "Coalition loaf"?

The small one.

The Coalition is going well now and by the end of the month it will be going a little better when we have Monaghan in the bag.

Wait until the lights go out again.

What about the increases in the 71 items announced today.
