Vol. 268 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Pyramid Selling.

6.

asked the Minister for Justice if, in view of the practice of pyramid selling, he will state if there have been any prosecutions arising from this malpractice.

There have been no such prosecutions.

Can the Minister say have any complaints been received in his Department in regard to this matter?

I have not got a list of the number of complaints. There have been many complaints to the Department of Justice and the Department of Industry and Commerce in regard to this practice. As a result of those complaints the practice was widely publicised. I understand that there would be legal difficulties and that is why there have been no prosecutions.
