Vol. 271 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mayo Estate.

56.

asked the Minister for Lands if the Land Commission have plans for the acquisition of the Murtagh estate at Ummoon, Foxford, County Mayo.

The Land Commission propose to carry out an inspection of the lands in question and the relevant notice was served earlier this month. Until such time as this inspection has been completed it is not possible to say what action will be taken in regard to the lands.

Would the Minister inform his colleague that feelings about this particular holding are running high in the area and ask him to impress on the Land Commission the need for acquisition of this holding?

An inspection notice issued on 5th March, 1974. Until such time as this inspection has been completed it is not possible to state what action will be taken in regard to the land.

I am asking the Minister to inform his colleague of the feelings of the people in the area about this holding.
