Vol. 291 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Housing Stock Survey.

21.

asked the Minister for Local Government when he proposes to publish the housing stock survey.

I would refer the Deputy to the reply to his question of 20th February, 1975, regarding the survey. As the survey covered only a relatively small sample of dwellings, it was decided to get more detailed data on a wider range of dwellings. All housing authorities have, accordingly, been asked to undertake a statutory assessment of the needs for dwellings in their areas including an assessment of the needs of households in unfit dwellings. Pending the receipt of their reports a decision on the publication of the survey report has been deferred.

Will the Minister say when he expects to have the returns from the various local authorities?

I am expecting the returns from them by 1st October and shortly after that, within the month, I expect to have the necessary data ready.

Does the Minister agree that this will be very useful information?

Of course it will.
