Vol. 333 No. 8

Written Answers. - Cable Television.

641.

Mr. Treacy

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when cable television will be made available in Clonmel, County Tipperary; and if there are any plans for the extension of this service to other towns in Tipperary South Riding.

It is not possible to say at this stage when a cable television system will be available in Clonmel.

The latest date for the receipt of applications for an exclusive licence to provide a cable television system in the town was 16 April 1982. The applications received are being examined at present and a decision to grant a licence will be made as soon as possible provided at least one applicant is found suitable.

My Department have no plans at present for the licensing of cable television systems in any other towns in Tipperary South Riding.
