Vol. 341 No. 5

Written Answers . - District Court Clerks Dispute .

521.

asked the Minister for Justice if, in view of the recent rejection of the proposed settlement terms made by the arbitrator in the District Court clerks dispute and because there is no remaining initiative to settle this protracted dispute, he will intervene in an effort to bring this strike to an end.

, Limerick East): My understanding of the position is that the union representing the court officers who have been in dispute with my Department have not yet decided whether to accept the mediator's recommendation for the settlement of the dispute.

I understand, however, that the union advised their members on 15 March 1983 to carry out all their statutory duties, including those imposed on them by the Courts Act, 1981, and I have been informed that the staff are now carrying out all their duties.
