Vol. 341 No. 7

Written Answers . - Mayo Schools .

621.

asked the Minister for Finance when a tender will be sanctioned for Carn national school, Ballina, County Mayo; and when work will commence.

: Tenders were received on 30 March 1983 for the extension to Carn national school, County Mayo. When the examination of tenders is completed, the local contribution will be requested and on receipt the contract will be placed. It is too early to say when work will commence.

622.

asked the Minister for Finance if, in view of the deplorable condition of Culleens national school, he will make special arrangements for the completion of working drawings and bills of quantity for a new school at Culleens, Killala Road, Ballina, County Mayo, so that tenders can be invited by September, 1983.

: Sketch plans for the proposed new school at Culleens, Ballina, County Mayo, were sent to the manager of the school on 8 April 1983 to enable him to apply for planning permission. Until the final planning permission is received and a grant is sanctioned by the Department of Education it will not be possible to commence preparation of contract documents.

The urgency of this case is appreciated but it is unlikely that tenders could be invited by September 1983.
