Housing authorities are empowered under a general sanction from my Department to give assistance under section 12 of the Housing Act, 1966, to philanthropic bodies providing hostel accommodation, in accordance with guidelines laid down in circular letter H7/72. Statistics relating to financial or other assistance given under section 12 are not collected by my Department but the table following shows particulars notified to the Department by the housing authorities named of assistance given by way of contributions to the philanthropic bodies shown:
