Vol. 343 No. 6

Written Answers. - Dublin Industrial Development.

659.

asked the Minister for Industry and Energy the plans he or agencies under his control have to establish the necessary industries to provide much needed employment for the Dublin area; and in particular the specific industries that will be established in Dublin northeast over the next year.

I am informed that in the period 1978-1982 the Industrial Development Authority provided grant assistance to projects which created 14,891 new first-time jobs in Dublin city and county. The major overseas projects secured by the IDA during this period include Specialty Materials, Applied Magnetics, Prime Computers, Sord Computers, Coolock; Bonaventure, Santry; Floating Systems, Swords and Storage Technology in Finglas. Further job opportunities will arise in these projects.

The IDA have a total of 520 acres of land and 850,000 sq. ft. of factory space available for industrial development in Dublin city and county. Of this, 100 acres of land and 600,000 sq. ft. of factory space is available in north Dublin and will be of major assistance to the IDA in promoting the area for industrial development.
