Peter Barry

Question:

92 Mr. Barry asked the Minister for Finance if, since 1989, any former State employees have been engaged, either permanently or on contract, by his Department; and if so, if he will give (i) their names (ii) the terms of their employment or contract (iii) the salary being paid to them and (iv) the pension, if any, payable to them from the State.

The following is the information requested in so far as my Department and the offices under my aegis are concerned.

Office of Public Works

Four retired officers have been re-employed by the Office of Public Works on the following consultancy work:

(i) Accommodation survey on a contract basis.

(ii) (a) Architectural consultancy in connection with College of Science refurbishment (for duration).

(b) Architectural consultancy in connection with the provision of new Museum of Modern Art at the Royal Hospital, Kilmainham (one year approximately).

(iii) Occasional short consultancy contracts to complete work including legal cases commenced before retirement.
(iv) Single consultancy contract to complete legal case commenced before retirement.
The officers concerned are being paid the appropriate hourly rates based on their salaries prior to retirement. They are in receipt of pensions of (i) £8,332.50, (ii) £19,554.36, (iii) £11,364.23 and (iv) £7,916.50 respectively.
It would not be appropriate to supply the names of the officers concerned.
Neither my own Department nor any other offices under my aegis have engaged any former State employees.
