Vol. 402 No. 9

Written Answers. - Cork Veterinary Laboratory Staffing.

Frank Crowley

Question:

73 Mr. Crowley asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will consider increasing staffing levels at the Cork Regional Veterinary Laboratory, Model Farm Road, County Cork, in view of delays (details supplied); his views on whether this laboratory is able to function properly because of the lack of staff; and if he is concerned that vets and farmer clients cannot be provided with an adequate service because of this situation.

My Department jointly with the Department of Finance have recently completed a comprehensive review of the structure and administration of my Department's main laboratories including the Cork Regional Veterinary Laboratory.

The recommendations in that report are at present being considered.
