Vol. 423 No. 1

Roads Bill, 1991: Report of Special Committee.

As chairman of the Special Committee set up to consider the Roads Bill, 1991, I wish to state that the report of the Special Committee is as follows:

The Special Committee have considered the Bill and have made amendments thereto. The Bill, as amended, is reported to the Dáil. I move: (1) that the Report and Proceedings be printed; (2) that the Bill, as amended in the Special Committee, be printed.

Question put and agreed to.

When is it proposed to take the Fourth Stage of this Bill?

It is proposed to take Report Stage next Tuesday with the agreement of the Whips.

Will the House agree that Report Stage will not be taken until such time as the printed report of Committee Stage has been published and circulated?

Can we have a response to Deputy Flanagan's question?

The chairman referred to the printing of the report.

Will the published document be available before Report Stage is taken in the House?

The Chair may recall that a similar matter arose in relation to Committee Stage of the Finance Bill. It was a very satisfactory Committee Stage which was marred by the fact that due to lack of resources it was not published for quite some time. Perhaps the Whips would indicate if that matter has been resolved and that there will not be a delay such as occurred in the past.

Report Stage ordered for Tuesday, 13 October 1992.
