Vol. 425 No. 7

Written Answers. - School Transport Grant.

Ivan Yates

Question:

529 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Education when a transport grant will be paid to persons (details supplied) in County Wexford; if, in view of their eligibility for school bus service and due to the absence of a service they are entitled to a grant instead; and if so, if she will expedite payment.

The two children in question are eligible for free transport to the school named. The older child applied for transport and has been issued with a ticket for the service, which operates within 0.5 miles of the child's home. I understand that this ticket is not being used. No application has been received in respect of the second child.

As school transport is available to these children, they are ineligible for grant-aid.
