Vol. 429 No. 6

Written Answers. - Fingerprinting.

Peter Barry

Question:

110 Mr. Barry asked the Minister for Justice if her attention has been drawn to the fact that victims of serious crimes are being kept waiting for Garda fingerprint experts to arrive because of staff cutbacks; if she intends to bring the fingerprint section up to full complement; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am informed by the Garda authorities that victims of serious crime receive attention on a priority basis from the members of the Fingerprint Section as available resources permit. It is proposed to increase the staffing level in this section in the near future.
