Vol. 431 No. 2

Written Answers. - Eolas-Tolka Rovers Negotiations.

Noel Ahern

Question:

90 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment if he will make a statement on the negotiations ongoing over four years between his Department, Tolka Rovers Football Club and EOLAS in regard to EOLAS letting part of a field of Tolka Rovers FC; and, in particular, if he will make a statement on a meeting held on 4 December 1990, at which the Minister for Science and Technology agreed to approve and see through the arrangement and later confirmed in writing that a licence agreement would be made available and on the fact that the agreement was never completed and EOLAS now say they are not in a position to proceed.

The matter referred to by the Deputy was one for negotiation between EOLAS and the club in question. My Department was not involved in the negotiations between both parties who, I understand, failed to reach agreement. I am informed that the chief executive of EOLAS has been in communication recently with the Deputy about this matter and has also indicated that the proposed National Metrology Laboratory will be built on the EOLAS site which was the subject of earlier discussion between the parties.
