Question:225 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Education if she will allocate any grants for swimming pools.
Written Answers. - Amenity Facilities Funding.
In 1988 the Government approved a capital programme for the provision of sports facilities at regional and local level throughout the country with a multi-annual fund of £17 million approximately. Under this programme the following swimming pool projects were allocated funding.

The swimming pool project at Shannon has been completed while those at Sligo, Galway and Carrick-on-Suir are under construction. The remaining projects are at various planning stages. As all available funds under this programme are fully committed to existing projects it is not possible at this time to allocate any further funds for swimming pools.
