Question:

145 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Education if she will issue immediate approval to all schools carrying out renovations or extensions for works recommended by the Chief Fire Officer under the Building Control Act, 1990; and if she will make additional finances available to cover these works.

Approval by my Department of grant assistance for renovations and extensions at schools is given on foot of applications submitted by the individual school authorities. It would be an integral part of all such approvals that the works be carried out in accordance with the legislation referred to by the Deputy.
