Vol. 441 No. 1

Written Answers. - Passport Applications Office.

Pádraic McCormack

Question:

47 Mr. McCormack asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs his views on whether it is possible to have an office established in Galway where passport applications can be accepted and collected when processed.

I am conscious that passport offices outside Dublin can relieve the pressure on the main Passport Office and help to give a better service to the public. As a first step, I envisage that the existing passport office in Cork will shortly be upgraded to a full issuing office for applicants in the Munster area. We will then consider the opening of a new office for applicants in the Connacht/Ulster region. At that stage, we will assess the suitability of various locations, including Galway, for such an office.
