Vol. 443 No. 9

Written Answers. - Electric Wheelchair.

Gay Mitchell

Question:

67 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Health if he will direct that an electric wheelchair be provided for a person (details supplied) in Dublin 12 who is wheelchair-bound due to spina bifida, who has arthritis of the hands and knees and can no longer manage the manual wheelchair; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The provision of a wheelchair in any individual case is a matter for the health board concerned. Accordingly, the Deputy's question has been referred to the Chief Executive Officer, Eastern Health Board with a request that he examine the matter and reply directly to the Deputy as a matter of urgency.
