Question:

32 Ms O'Donnell asked the Minister for the Environment if he has reviewed the operation of the supplementary voters register system which came into operation during the recent European Parliament elections; the proposals, if any, he has to make alterations to the regulations governing the operation of the system; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

My Department has asked registration authorities, county registrars and sheriffs for their views on the operation of the new supplement at the recent elections and I will review the terms and conditions of the scheme in the light of the response. I will be happy to consider in this review any comments which Deputies or public representatives generally wish to make about the system.
