35 Mr. O'Malley asked the Minister for the Environment if he will give details of the anomalies in the rates support grant allocations system referred to by him in reply to Parliamentary Questions Nos. 25, 27 and 100 of 9 February 1994; the action, if any, he proposes to take to remove anomalies from the system; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
In the reply referred to, I indicated that the present system of rate support grant allocations had evolved over a period of 15 years and that it would not be prudent to attempt to solve any imbalances that may exist otherwise than on a phased basis. I also indicated that I intended to review the position on the basis of the most up-to-date information available to my Department before the 1995 allocations come to be made. Pending that review, I do not consider that it would be useful to comment further on the matter.
