Question:212 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Education if her Department has received EU aid for technical assistance under the community support framework; and if so, the amount in the period 1989-93.
Written Answers. - EU Aid for Technical Assistance.
In the period 1989-93 the European Union provided £0.1574 million aid in respect of technical assistance in the operational programme for vocational training infrastructure which is co-ordinated by my Department. The funds were provided to assist in the review, monitoring and evaluation of capital measures aided by the European Regional Development Fund.
No specific technical assistance funds were provided to my Department for ESF-aided activity in the education sector in the period 1989-93. However, the technical assistance activity co-ordinated by the Departments of Enterprise and Employment and Finance included evaluation and review of programmes in the education sector carried out both by external consultants and by the European Social Fund Programme Evaluation Unit.
