Vol. 446 No. 3

Written Answers. - Vascular Surgery.

Richard Bruton

Question:

267 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Health the number of people now awaiting operations for varicose veins and other types of vascular surgery; the length of time that a person joining that waiting list now might expect to have to wait; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1978/94]

As of 30 June, 1994 there were a total of 1,853 persons on the in-patient waiting list for vascular surgery. This compares to a total of 3,252 persons on the waiting list at the same time last year shortly after the launch of the 1993 waiting list initiative.

Information on waiting times for treatment is not routinely collected by my Department.
