Vol. 450 No. 2

Written Answers. - Electricity Supply.

Séamus Hughes

Question:

144 Mr. Hughes asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications if he will provide financial assistance to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo to extend electricity supply to his residence, in view of the fact that the nearest supply is three miles away. [4861/95]

My Department, in conjunction with the ESB, operates the farm electrification grants scheme which is designed to subsidise the installation of electricity supply to farms which previously had no supply or where supply is inadequate, in order to facilitate the development and modernisation of farms in disadvantaged areas of the country.

An application for grant-aid under the farm electrification grants scheme has not been received in my Department from the person concerned. If the person wishes to be considered for grant-aid under the scheme, he should contact his local ESB office regarding an application.
